| Russian company Boheme Music is one of
the major producers of music recordings on the former USSR territory. We release mostly
CDs with new phonograms recorded in our own studio. At the same time we explore Russian
state phono archives and private collections, where we find unique recordings of famous
Russian performers and composers, who worthily adorn the Russian school of music. Company catalogue contains five major directions: classical music, jazz, religious music, folklore and traditional variety music. Each direction contains certain series, giving the CD collectors an opportunity to purchase complete sets of CDs with the works of a particular author, orchestra or conductor. Classical pages of the catalogue are divided into two main series. First, called Two Centuries of Russian Music, contain works of Peter Tchaikovsky, Alexander Scriabin, Georgy Sviridov, Alexander Alyabiev, Boris Tchaikovsky, Vassily Kalinninkov and Georgy Dmitriev. Second, Russian Performance School, primarily offers symphony orchestras led by well-known Russian conductors, such as Nikolay Golovanov, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Yuri Kochnev and others. We also released romances and scenes from the operas performed by Irina Arkhipova, a complete collection of Sergey Rachmaninov's romances performed by Natalia Suchkova, and the recordings of pianist Pyotr Dmitriev and the string quartets named after Ludwig van Beethoven, Dmitry Shostakovich and Mikhail Glinka. Religious music comprises a special part of the companys catalogue. The Sacred Music series are being released on double albums with unique artistic design; those CDs are dedicated to 2000th anniversary of the Nativity of Christ. The first CDs of each album contain recordings of the divine services by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II on the Orthodox feast days or in connection with important events in the country's and Church life, recorded in the major Russian churches, while the second CDs introduce the listener to the best church choirs of Russia. A special place in this collection belongs to the album with the Requiem service celebrated in the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St.Sergius in commemoration of the family of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II. The next album of those series will include a CD with choral singing and a DVD with a film about divine services, which Patriarch Alexy II will celebrate in Bethlehem and in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in January 2000 during the official Russian delegation visit to the Holy Land. The company intends to release a DVD with a film about the consecration of the recently restored Christ the Saviour Church in these series . Creative search of the company includes serious studies in folklore. Research expeditions, including those organised by the Company, have carefully gathered the invaluable experience and musical traditions of different peoples and nationalities living in various parts of Russia. The first CDs in the Russian Folklore series with songs of the Smolensk, Arkhangelsk, Pskov and Vitebsk regions and of the Northern regions have provoked great interest not only among experts, but also among artistic youth, who use melodies and themes of these songs in their musical experiments, concerts and recordings, adding new rhythms and modern sounds to them. Many lyrical variety songs were popular during the Soviet era. People still admire their authors and performers. In appreciation of their creative work, the Company started to release CDs under Boheme and Golden Song Collection series. Songs by Alexander Vertinsky, Yelena Kamburova, Tikhon Khrennikov, Jan Frenkel, Nikita Bogoslovsky, Mark Fradkin, Alexandra Pakhmutova and many others have been already released or will be released in nearest future. Jazz albums are the pride of the Company. They offer us the world-famous galaxy of the Russian jazz musicians, such as saxophonists Igor Butman and Alexey Kozlov, Lembit Saarsalu, French horn virtuoso Arkady Shilkloper, pianists Mikhail Alperin, Daniel Kramer, Gregory Fine, Igor Bril and Andrey Kondakov, guitarists Enver Izmailov, Alexey Kuznetsov, as well as many young musicians. The company owns several Web resources, including www.boheme.ru and www.bohememusic.com with information about the company's catalogue and artists, as well as large Web resource www.jazz.ru (Jazz in Russia) on jazz in Russian. Jazz Complete, the only Web magazine on jazz in Russian language, is being published weekly at Jazz In Russia. These information resources enjoy a high rating among Russian musical sites. The Boheme Music Company organizes concerts and tours of its artists both in Russia and abroad. The Boheme Jazz festival is held every year in April and May at dozens of concert sites in Moscow and looks likely to become a tradition. A sparkling event in the musical life of the capital, it brings together thousands of jazz fans. Boheme Music International in Prague deals with foreign recording and distribution companies and delivers CDs released by Boheme Music to customers all over the world. |
