This is the first album of the Moscow 'At Squire's Place'
ensemble of folk and variety music It was formed in 1996 and since then has
toured many Russian and foreign cities and has been applauded by listeners in
Moscow and Pans, St Peterburg and Rome, Copenhagen and Geneva. The ensemble performs at mapr
concert venues and at night clubs. Its programme includes songs which appeal to the soul of every listener These
are melodious Russian and comic Cossack songs, compositions of dance music in modem rhythms and
songs of Russian gypsies
The team was founded by Victor Bannov (bayan), a graduate of the Russian Gnesins'
Academy of Music, a prize winner of international competitions All members of the ensemble play
instruments and sing as soloists Sergey Obyedkov (tenor), Nina Petrova (soprano), Svetlana
Yevdokimova (alto), Yury Kondratiev (balalaika, vocals), Marina Stepanchikova (alto), Tatiana
Smirnova (soprano)
